Nursing Process

Nursing Process lays down the guidelines for nurses to provide care to their patients. It has a focus on solving various issues and problems related to the patients. Basically, all the aspects of patient care are covered under nursing process. This process goes on till the problem persists and the patient hasn’t recovered completely. Apart from the patient’s overall health, it focuses on taking care of patient’s physical, emotional and social needs.

Keeping Records

The nurses are required to draft a care plan for each and every patient and the treatment should be as per the plan. It is also possible that the nursing plan may evolve during the treatment and various cycles of nursing process. Whatever care has been provided to the patient needs to be recorded diligently. Along with that, the nurse should document whatever changes in the treatment process are made in due course of time.

Checking Vital Signs

During the course of treatment, the patient’s condition may improve or degrade. Regardless of the progress, the vital signs in change in condition must be properly noted by the nurse. This can be critical in the treatment process as necessary steps can be taken by the doctor depending on the signs being shown by the patient. Generally, these signs can be helpful in identifying whether there is a need to rake up the treatment process or to adopt a lighter treatment in case the patient is showing signs of improvement.

Infection Control

Nurses have an added responsibility of preventing any type of infection in the patients. Infection control should be in place not only in hospitals, but at any place of work wherever a nurse has been posted. Besides that, they should have requisite knowledge about keeping personal hygiene to not pick up a communicable disease from an infected patient or end up transferring an infection to a patient or a newborn.

Medication

It is the responsibility of the nurses to provide medication to the patient at the right time and in the required amount. The nurses have to oversee that the patient is having correct amount of nutrition and the required tests are being performed regularly.
