When many people think of nursing they think of their doctor office.  While this is a great example of nursing, it is not the only option.  Other nurses work in hospitals, in nursing homes, in rehabilitation centers, in schools, and even on cruise ships.  Other nurses work in the military and experience nursing all around the world.  Others work in free standing clinics, nurse run clinics, camps, vacation resorts, and in corporate settings as a legal nurse.  Nurses are also known to work in laboratories, universities, and research institutions.

As you can see, there are a lot of places where a nurse might work.  Because of this, the environment can be vastly different from nurse to nurse.  Some nurses might spend the majority of their time behind a desk, others will be dealing with trauma patients in an ER, and still others will be in military barracks, at a school, on a cruise ship, etc.  The wide number of nursing positions allow for each nurse to really find her niche in the nursing community.

The responsibilities and hours will also vary widely from nursing job to nursing job, so most people who finish schooling can easily find a job that will fit into their life, allowing them to do something that they love in the manner that works best for them.
